Mission

The mission of the Tye Industrial Development Corporation is to use 4A sales tax revenue to effectively stimulate Tye’s economic growth. This is done by evaluating the community’s economic development needs, developing a plan to meet those needs, coordinating community economic development efforts and supporting targeted activities that promote and development purposes and expanded business enterprises that enhance the quality of life in the community and maximize the public’s return on invested tax dollars.

Goals

The Board has identified 6 key goals in the City’s economic development efforts.

  1. To make Tye competitive in the attraction of business and industry in order to create new, sustainable jobs.
  2. To create new jobs and retain existing jobs by providing assistance to existing and emerging businesses.
  3. To create an industrial park with a spec building and effectively market the project.
  4. To strengthen and expand the skills of the Tye labor force.
  5. To clean up and revitalize downtown Tye.
  6. To help bring, retail business: grocery store, motels, fast food stores, and a bank to Tye.
  7. Sponsor the Annual Tye Wheel Fest the first weekend of October.

Selling Points

  1. Permits are easily granted and the City of Tye, TIDCO, TEDCO is willing to provide assistance.
  2. Property taxes are low.
  3. Schools are exemplary.

Projects 1

Tye Industrial Development Corporation:
The voters of Tye approved of a 4A - cent sales tax, to be used to help bring new businesses, retention and expansion of existing businesses in our city. The Board of Directors consists of: Sherry Lyle – President, Ginger Meyer – Secretary/Treasurer. Other board members: Randy Hill, Larry Holmes, Alex Cerda. Tye Economic Development Corporation
The voters of Tye during the May election of 1996 voted in the 4B - cent sales tax to be used to help the economy of Tye through projects that would enhance the city. The Board of Directors consists of: President, Robert Yeager, Mary McCarty, Treasurer, Barbara Welch – Secretary . Other board members: Michelle Blessing, Sheila Bright, Murl Richardson, and Steve Humprey. Connie Selden is the Executive Director for both TIDCO & TEDCO; their offices are located at 103a Scott Street, Tye, Texas 79563. Phone number is (325) 695-8253.

Plans for New Park at Laney Homestead

  • Tye Economic Development Corporation built a new Basketball Court on the two lots that Howard Selden donated to the City of Tye for a Playground @ Laney Homestead.
  • Mike and Barbara Welch has donated a swing set and monkey bars that have been erected & fall absorbing loose-fill materials have been purchased.
  • Mary McCarty has donated small monkey bars for smaller children and a play truck for the Tye Towne Park and a swing set has been erected also. The board built a 1/2 Basketball Court for the Tye Towne Park.
